Academy Sports + Outdoors celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by partnering with Communities in Schools to surprise San Marcos High School Teacher and Assistant Girls Basketball Coach Tasha Fennell with a $500 shopping spree in recognition of her community service efforts and career guidance beyond the classroom. Fennell is an Advancement Via Individual Determination teacher, which is an academic acceleration program that aims to prepare students in the academic middle for fouryear colleges. Fennell encompasses the core mission of Communities in School, which aims to surround students with a community of support and empower them to stay in school and achieve in life. Additionally, San Marcos High School was presented with a $2,000 Academy gift card, which will be used towards the purchase of basketball and athletic equipment.
