A benefit will be held for the family of Victor Avendano-Ramirez, who was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement after allegedly making an incomplete stop at a stop sign, on Monday from 6:30-6:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in San Marcos.

Avendano-Ramirez reportedly admitted that he was undocumented while he was being booked for driving without a valid license and failing to appear. The Avendano family lives in Wimberley and has been in Hays County for more than a decade.

Avendano-Ramirez has been released from custody, but the family’s bills have piled up since his detention in late January. The community is coming together to assist the family with rent, utility bills, food and car payments. At the benefit Monday night, a requested donation of $10 will get attendees all-you-can-eat pizza, fresh salads and drinks, with live music.

First Lutheran Church is located at 130 W. Holland St. For more information go to the Facebook event page.
