Daily Record Photographer Denise Cathey has been honored by Photographer’s Forum Magazine.

She received notification last week that her photo of a cowboy firing a pistol won fourth place in the 2018 Best of College & High School Photography.

A native of Spring, Cathey is a graduate of Texas State University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.

She has been employed part-time by the Record since June 9, 2016. Prior to that, we published her work on a freelance basis for months before that.

“It is not surprising that Denise’s work has been recognized,” Managing Editor Anita Miller said.

“She has an extremely talented eye and an unfailing work ethic. We are all very proud of her.”
