KZSM – And the beat goes on

Sometimes I am amazed at the guests we have had in our studio. As quaint and tucked away as it sometimes appears to be, we have been known to entertain many local celebrities as well as international recording artists. From the political to the musical, our radio hosts continue to make community radio an exciting prospect!

Regardless of your favorite musical genre, whether you’re wanting to hear political commentary or music and information that feeds your soul, if you haven’t heard it here, keep listening, we’re working on getting it in then air. Since all our staff are volunteers who work, have families, and are subject to other obligations, sometimes they are with us for a short period of time and then, there are others who have been hanging on since the beginning. I believe that is what makes community radio so exciting, one never knows what will appear on the program schedule each month. We attempt to maintain some semblance of regularity and we have programs that serve as a “cornerstone” in the schedule, but, even some of those have ceased to exist in a live format.

We are always receptive to fresh program ideas that reflect the interests of our listening audience, which continues to grow. Our volunteer staff meetings are open to the public. Bring your ideas, your questions, and learn how you can become a part of your KZSM True Community Radio family! No previous radio experience is necessary and there is no obligation to become a radio host. We are always looking for volunteers who may assist us in many other areas as well. Join us at Wake the Dead Coffee house on Wednesday, May 16th from 7:30pm until 9pm.

If you haven’t been to one of our Kissing Alley Concerts yet, then you have been missing out! Our concerts are free, family-friendly and are open to the public. This month enjoy music with a Latin flair. The San Marcos High School Salsa band will perform at 6pm and will be followed by Amado Gonzalez and then, Clever Heads Prevail.

KZSM will also be hosting a benefit concert at the Buzzmill on June 15th and 16th. Join us for our first Heavy Metal Meltdown! Fifteen heavy metal bands in two days beginning at 4pm each day.

KZSM, now streaming world-wide on the internet, (Just a little bit south of weird!)
