Texas State sophomore punter Marcus Ripley was named the Sun Belt’s Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Ripley averaged 45.9 yards on nine punts against Colorado on Saturday. He also recorded a career-long 71-yard punt during the Bobcats’ loss to the Buffaloes. Sherman’s punt was the longest punt for a Texas State punter since Sept. 10, 2011 when Ben Follis also recorded a 71-yard punt against Wyoming.

This is the second time Ripley has earned Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He notched his first conference accolade on Sept. 5, 2016 after converting two field goals and making all six extra-point attempts in the Bobcats’ 56-54 triple-overtime win over Ohio.

Ripley is the second Texas State player to receive the Sun Belt’s Player of the Week award this season. Senior linebacker Easy Anayama was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4 after recording five tackles, two sacks and blocked an extra point against Houston Baptist.
