As the rivalry game between Texas State and UTSA continues to reach a fever pitch, this will be the second showdown between the teacher and the student in UTSA Head Coach Jeff Traylor and Texas State Head Coach G.J. Kinne.

There is an old saying coaches have reiterated for decades. A win is a win. That was the case for Texas State on Saturday. It wasn’t the prettiest win, but the Bobcats got the job done by beating the Lamar Cardinals 34-27.
The Rattlers dropped their season opener to the Hutto Hippos in a 63-8 defeat.
While the I-35 rivalry between Texas State and UTSA may be short on the football field, the rivalry between the Bobcats and Roadrunners dates back to the 1990s when UTSA first joined the Southland Conference.
With the Kiwanis Great Pumpkin Dash 5K being held out at the LaCima Developments Activity Center, it made me look back at the different locations some organizations have chosen for a run in San Marcos. For many years almost 75% of the runs were held down at the Courthouse Square and headed down San Antonio Street. But with parade permits, insurance coverage and TxDOT permission to cross Hopkins Street, organizers looked for other options. And even before that there were races all over San Marcos.
Texas State suffered their first home loss of the season in a 2-1 defeat to the Colorado State Rams.
